REPORT OF THE EXECUTIVE SECRETARY, DAVID HILL:

Reported that at the conference board we had a representative from Fidelity who handled some of the questions we all have.  He has been invited back to the next conference board in Chicago, to see what kind of progress he has made.

Reported that he had explained to management how the 45 day rule actually worked.  If you miss work and you are going on sick leave, make sure you see a benefit rep.  Make sure you see a doctor within seven days.  Make sure you call the national benefit center within 15 days.  Make sure that you pick up your paperwork from your doctor and mail it back in within 45 days.  However, if somehow you miss the 45 day grace period, you will not receive an occurrence if your doctor will still certify you.  You will just not get paid.

Motion was made and seconded to approve the executive secretary’s report.

Motion carried unanimously.

REPORT OF THE PRESIDENT, LARRY WEST:

The IUE-CWA Golf Outing for the Children’s Christmas party fund will be held on Saturday, June 25th at Larch Tree Golf Course.  If you are interested in playing or volunteering, contact Brad Rice at 7405 or Mark Shinkle at 7324 or Scott Bowling at 7616.  All proceeds benefit the Children’s Christmas party.

We have partnered with the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Gardens to provide discount tickets for our members.  The tickets are available now at the hall.  They are good any day of the week through October 31st.  The Cincinnati Zoo is a great place to take your children or grandchildren and now the Local can save you $5 on each $12 adult admission and $3.25 on each $7.95 child or senior admission.  Stop in at the hall and buy your tickets now!

The Local has also worked out a final deal with Paramount’s King’s Island for four dates during the shutdown when our members get a great discount. Jul 8, 9, 12 and 13th.    The adult price would drop from $44.99 per adult down to $25.99.  Seniors and children will drop from $26.99 to $20.99.  That would save a family or four with two children 7 or over $76.00 on the price of one visit.  Tickets are now available at the hall.  Discounted parking passes are also available.

At the Conference Board meeting in Troy, Michigan, Henry Reichard was unanimously elected Conference Board chairman.  Henry was taken seriously ill at the meeting and ended up in the hospital, but he is expected to make a complete recovery.  He is now at home and is doing much better.

Jim Clark will be running for International IUE-CWA President at the Convention in August.  The Automotive Conference Board, under Henry Reichard, has endorsed Jim for that position.

Willie Thorpe has been named the new director of Region 7 and has moved over to that office.  Nick Border will be taking over Willie’s benefit job at the Conference Board, working out of Warren, Ohio.

Motion was made and seconded to approve the President’s report, subject to question.

Motion carried unanimously.
