REGULAR MEMBERSHIP MEETING   April 27, 2006       3:30 P.M.

 

The regular 1st shift membership meeting was held on Thursday, April 27, 2006 at 3:30 p.m. with Larry West presiding.

 

The 33 members paid their respects to the flag. 

 

Prayer was held for the membership and the Local.

 

Roll call was taken with Keith Bailey in Troy, Michigan, Mike Allen, Sue Bostwick on sick leave, Todd Baker, Kim Derringer, Jill Mayes, Cheryl Rice, Tim Stuck, Brian Woolum on vacation.  Scott Bowling, Tony Hamblin, Tracy Kelly, Brad Rice working. Joe Farmer, Jerry Fyffe, Denny Mesarvey, Ed Potter absent.

 

Motion made and seconded to dispense with the reading of the February membership meeting minutes, subject to question.

 

Motion carried unanimously.

 

Motion made and seconded to approve the April Executive Board minutes as read, subject to question.

 

Motion carried unanimously.

 

Recommendation:  to send two officers and two delegates to the IUE-CWA Division Conference, July 7-10 in Las Vegas.

 

Motion made and seconded to approve the recommendation.

 

Motion carried unanimously.

 

REPORT OF THE ACTING CHAIRMAN, DAN PALMER:

 

Reported on the status of the grievance procedure.

Reported that he would canvas 159 department to check out complaints on overtime.

 

Reported that fire drills set for Tuesday, May 2 in the plant will be cancelled.

REPORT OF THE EXECUTIVE SECRETARY, DAVID HILL:

 

Reported that traditional people on PPO blue cross and blue shield, both retired and active will receive new cards if they live in the states of Michigan, Ohio, Kansas, and Alabama.

 

Reported on Paul Hegwood getting a promotion to head the Chassis North America.

 

Reported that Joe Campbell will replace Paul Hegwood as plant manager.

 

Reported that Keith and Dave met with Paul and congratulated him on the new job.  Paul mentioned the high absenteeism.  Asked us to let employees know that this bankruptcy procedure may last longer than we anticipated and they should keep that in mind when using vacation, so they don’t run out before the end of the year.

 

Reported that GMX (Saturn) was having June launch.  The new platform 384 will replace the 380 platform.

REPORT OF THE PRESIDENT, LARRY WEST:

 

Reported that the Local 755/American Cancer Society Fish Fry made around $4,000 for Breast Cancer Research.

 

Reminded everyone to sign the petitions in the plant.

 

Reported that the officers here at the Local will be getting you further updates on the bankruptcy.  Things are quiet right now.

 

Motion was made and seconded to approve the President’s report, subject to question.
