REGULAR MEMBERSHIP MEETING JANUARY 23, 2003       4:00 P.M.

 

The regular 1st shift membership meeting was held on Thursday, January 23, 2003 at 4:00  p.m. with Keith Hammond presiding.

 

The 53 members present paid their respects to the flag.

 

Prayer was held for the membership and for the local.

 

Roll call was taken with Jim Bonner, Kathy Coleman, Larry Combs, Jerry Fyffe, Denny Mesarvey, Ed Potter, Pat Rickman, TimStuck and Bonnie Sturgill absent.

 

Motion made and seconded to dispense with the reading of the November membership minutes, subject to question.

 

Motion carried unanimously.

 

Motion made and seconded to approve the January executive board minutes as read, subject to question.

 

Executive Board Recommendations:

 

 

Recommended sending $200 to a special fund for Michelle Roger’s Children.

 

Motion made and seconded to approve the recommendation.

 

Motion approved unanimously.

 

REPORT OF THE CHAIRMAN, DAVE HEIZER:

 

Reported on the status of the grievance procedure.

REPORT OF THE EXECUTIVE SECRETARY, DAVID HILL:

 

Reported on profit sharing paid out on March 14th.

 

Reported on GE Health care strike.

 

Gave an update on worker’s comp and unemployment.

 

Motion made and seconded to approve the executive secretary’s report, subject to question.

REPORT OF THE PRESIDENT, KEITH HAMMOND:

 

Reported on the automotive holding group.

 

Reported on lobbying on Capital Hill, in Washington, DC on February 4th 2003.

 

Reported on a focus group of 10 to 12 people that will have input into the redesign of the Dayton Public schools secondary education system.

 

Reported on the 2002 Children’s Christmas party.

 

Reported on the Children’s Easter party that will be held on April 6th.

 

Reported on the upcoming American Cancer Society Fish Fry, March 28th. 

 

Reported that the COPE tickets are ready to be passed out.

 

Reported that Judy Cassidy, Ed Fire’s secretary is retiring this month and we sent a basket from the Local.  She was very appreciative.

 

Reported that GE Union employee Michelle Rogers was killed on January 13th while walking the picket line.

 

Motion was made and seconded to approve the President’s report, subject to question.
