REGULAR MEMBERSHIP MEETING FEBRUARY 20, 2003       4:00 P.M.

 

The regular 1st shift membership meeting was held on Thursday, February 20, 2003 at 4:00  p.m. with Keith Hammond presiding.

 

The 36 members present paid their respects to the flag.

 

Prayer was held for the membership and for the local.

 

Roll call was taken with Darren Booth, Larry Combs, Jerry Fyffe, Brian Lyons, Dan Palmer, Jim Patton, Bonnie Sturgill, Ken Luneke, Dwayne Meyers, Von Fessler absent and George Kleinfelder on vacation.

 

Motion made and seconded to dispense with the reading of the January membership minutes, subject to question.

 

Motion carried unanimously.

 

Motion made and seconded to approve the February executive board minutes as read, subject to question.

 

Executive Board Recommendations:

 

Send Health and Safety Rep to the February Conference Board.

 

Send the shop committee to the May conference board in May.

 

Motion made and seconded to approve the recommendation.

 

Motion approved unanimously.

 

REPORT OF THE CHAIRMAN, DAVE HEIZER:

 

Reported on the status of the grievance procedure.

Reported on a GE Union newsletter by Local 201 out of Lynn, Mass.

 

Reported that the company beat it’s budget for February.

 

Dave complimented Keith Bailey and Jeff Jett for doing a fine job at the health and safety conference in Palm Springs.

 

Reported that our ergonomics has been recognized by the corporation.

 

Reported that our OET has been noticed by the conference board nationwide.

REPORT OF THE EXECUTIVE SECRETARY, DAVID HILL:

 

Reported on the severe weather conditions on Monday, February 17, 2003.

 

Motion made and seconded to approve the executive secretary’s report, subject to question.

REPORT OF THE PRESIDENT, KEITH HAMMOND:

 

Reported on Lobbying on Capital Hill with the IUC, Industrial Union Council.

 

Reported on the focus group on the Dayton City School Secondary education system.

 

Reported on the Children’s Easter party that will be held on April 6th.

 

Reported on the upcoming American Cancer Society Fish Fry, March 28th. 

 

Reported that the COPE drawing will be after the first shift meeting.

 

Reported that the Dayton Bombers will be having a Union night on March 1st, 2003. Starts at 7:30 p.m.

 

Motion was made and seconded to approve the President’s report, subject to question.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

 

Keith Bailey reported on the Dayton Public Schools focus group. Talked about Meadowdale, Colonel White and Belmont.Each si vying for 1 million dollars from the Bill Gates fund. Sinclair Community College will be facilitating the group.  Keith thanked everyone who participated in this.
