REGULAR MEMBERSHIP MEETING September 29, 2005       3:30 P.M.

 

The regular 1st shift membership meeting was held on Thursday, September 29, 2005 at 3:30 p.m. with Larry West presiding.

 

The 32 members present paid their respects to the flag.

 

Prayer was held for the membership and for the local.

 

Roll call was taken with Todd Baker, John Ballard Jr., Joe Farmer, Jerry Fyffe, Randy Herbert, Dan Johnson, Ed Potter, Cheryl Rice, Tim  Stuck absent. Sue Bostwick, Tracy Kelly, Stan Long and Dan Palmer working.

 

Motion made and seconded to approve the reading of the August membership meeting minutes, subject to question.

 

Motion carried unanimously.

 

Motion made and seconded to approve the September Executive Board minutes as read, subject to question.

REPORT OF THE CHAIRMAN, KEITH BAILEY:

 

Reported on the status of the grievance procedure.

Reported that Delphi, GM, UAW, IUE-CWA and USW restructuring talks are ongoing at the highest levels of leadership.

 

Reported that an email update form has been given to the committeemen and if you sign up, you can keep up on the progress of the upcoming talks when we are called to Detroit.

The 2% annual increase for employees hired prior to 1-1-97 will go into effect on Monday, September 19th, 2005.  You should notice the increase on your check on September 29th.

 

For those employees hired after 1-1-97, you will receive a lump sum payment if your check stub on September 29th that will equal a 2% bonus based on your qualified earnings from August 15th 2004 to August 15, 2005.

 

Reported that several of our members have expressed concern about GM’s recent visit into our plant and their marking of tools and fixtures. 

 

Keith reported that on Tuesday, September 27, Delphi hired a corporation by the name of Hilco to come in and do an appraisal of all Delphi assets in North America.

REPORT OF THE EXECUTIVE SECRETARY, DAVID HILL:

 

Reported that we have been recertified from August 23, 2005 through August 23, 2007 for TRA and TAA for our plant. 

 

Reported that during the last conference board we had a conference board decision that if you file workers comp, you would be able to attend the hearing without it counting as an absence in the no fault attendance program.

 

Motion was made and seconded to approve the executive secretary’s report.

REPORT OF THE PRESIDENT, LARRY WEST:

 

The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer five mile walk is Saturday, October 22 at 10 a.m.   Here’s what you can do to help:

1.     Be a walker and raise as many donations as you can from family, friends, co-workers and others.

2.     Sponsor a walker with a generous, tax-deductable contribution.

3.     Volunteer your time and talent the day of the event.

4.     Learn to protect yourself from breast cancer with early detection.

The Local will have a team walking. I urge all of you to take part or donate.  Most of us know someone who has battled breast cancer.  We need to do everything we can to help find the cure.

 

The United Way Flu shots will be held at the Union hall on Sunday, October 16th from 2:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.  Shots will be $15 and they have assured us that this year there will be no cancellations. 

 

October is the last month to buy and use discounted Cincinnati Zoo tickets.  It’s a great month to take your children or grandchildren to the zoo, because the cooler weather has the animals more lively and there are special events, like Hallzooween, taking place on weekends starting October 14th.  On the Hallzooween weekends, which are Oct. 14-16, 21-22, 28 -30th, kids 12 and under will receive free treat tickets and a free trick or treat bad to collect goodies at various treat stations throughout the zoo.   Zoo Tickets can still be purchased at the Union hall.

 

Bowling Tournament – Brad  Rice will be chairing a bowling tournament to raise additional money for the Children’s Christmas Party. The tournament will take place on November 19th at 12 noon at Poelking on Wilmington.  To sign up, call Brad Rice at 5-7209  or Mark Shinkle at 5-7324.  Also watch for plant postings.

 

Reported that he and Brian Woolum were working on getting discounted Bombers Tickets for our members.
