REGULAR MEMBERSHIP MEETING   MAY 25, 2006       3:30 P.M.

 

The regular 1st shift membership meeting was held on Thursday, May 25, 2006 at 3:30 p.m. with Larry West presiding.

 

The 18 members paid their respects to the flag. 

 

Prayer was held for the membership and the Local.

 

Roll call was taken with Mike Allen, Sue Bostwick, Jerry Fyffe on sick leave, Todd Baker, Kim Derringer on vacation. Joe Farmer, Von Fessler, Jim Holley, Rob Hollister, Denny Mesarvey, Dan Palmer, Ed Potter and Tim Stuck absent.  Tony Hamblin, Dan Johnson, Tracy Kelly, Stan Long, Todd Holbert working and Brad Rice in training.

 

Motion made and seconded to dispense with the reading of the April membership meeting minutes, subject to question.

 

Motion carried unanimously.

 

Motion made and seconded to approve the May Executive Board minutes as read, subject to question.

 

Motion carried unanimously.

 

REPORT OF THE CHAIRMAN, KEITH BAILEY:

 

Reported on the status of the grievance procedure.

REPORT OF THE EXECUTIVE SECRETARY, DAVID HILL:

 

Reported that there has been very little negotiating on benefits.  The benefit package will likely be the last thing negotiated in the bankruptcy process.

 

Reported that Larry and Dave went on the bus trip to support the retirees.  The retirees have no vote or voice on the contract.  Their only recourse is to sue Delphi and the International Union.  They have done that.  We were simply showing our support.

 

Reported on meetings with management last week.  The corporation told us that they were not taking 40 hours vacation away.

 

Motion was made and seconded to approve the executive secretary’s report.

REPORT OF THE PRESIDENT, LARRY WEST:

 

Reported that the advertising we have been doing has begun to pay off.  Call volumes and rentals are up.

 

Gave an update on the new Bingo. 

 

Reported that he had Soundforce install a number of microphone jacks in the wall of the Union hall so that we can keep the amplifier in the conference room.

 

Reported on the bus ride to New York City to demonstrate.

 

Motion was made and seconded to approve the President’s report, subject to question.
