REGULAR MEMBERSHIP MEETING APRIL 24, 2003       7:30 A.M.

 

The regular 3rd shift membership meeting was held on Thursday, April 24, 2003 at 7:30  a.m. with Keith Hammond presiding.

 

The 7 members present paid their respects to the flag.

 

Prayer was held for the membership and for the local.

 

Roll call was taken with all present.

 

Motion made and seconded to dispense with the reading of the March membership minutes, subject to question.

 

Motion carried unanimously.

 

Motion made and seconded to approve the April executive board minutes as read, subject to question.

 

REPORT OF THE CHAIRMAN, DAVE HEIZER:

 

Reported on the status of the grievance procedure.

Dave reported that he had appointed Ernie Grant to fill Larry Comb’s position in District 1-5 until the election in May.

 

Reported that he was formulating demands for National negotiations.

 

Thanked the people who worked at the American Cancer Society fish fry.

REPORT OF THE EXECUTIVE SECRETARY, DAVID HILL:

 

Gave an update on information members received from the national benefit center.

 

Reported on the new HIPPA Law and how closely they are going to be watching this.

REPORT OF THE PRESIDENT, KEITH HAMMOND:

 

Reported that May 17, 2003, there will be a rally at the GE Plant in Louisville, KY.  Volunteer are needed to go.

 

Reported on the worker’s Memorial Day April 28th.

 

Reported that the Local received our new Charter with the CWA.

 

Reported that Ed Harm has been appointed to the National Skilled Trades bargaining committee by the Conference Board.

 

Reported that the Union hall would be replacing the old cooler in the kitchen.

 

Thanked the women’s committee for having the Children’s Easter party.

 

Reported that the application deadline has been extended to April 30th.

 

Reported that the Local 755 golf outing at Larch Tree Golf Course will Saturday, June 7th and will help pay for the Children’s Christmas Party.

 

Reported that Local 798 will have a fish fry on April 26th from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. at 313 S. Jefferson st.
