REGULAR MEMBERSHIP MEETING MAY 29, 2003       4:00 P.M.

 

The regular 1st  Shift membership meeting was held on Thursday, May 29 at 4:00 p.m. with Keith Hammond presiding.

 

The 23 members present paid their respects to the flag.

 

Prayer was held for the membership and for the local.

 

Roll call was taken with  Tim Beverly, Latrice Dewitt, Jerry Fyffe, Tracey Kelly, Jeff Jett, Dan Palmer, Ed Potter and Ken Luneke absent.  Sue Bostwick, George Kleinfelder and Tim Stuck on vacation.

 

Motion made and seconded to dispense with the reading of the April membership minutes, subject to question.

 

Motion carried unanimously.

 

Motion made and seconded to approve the May executive board minutes as read, subject to question.

REPORT OF THE CHAIRMAN, DAVE HEIZER:

 

Reported on the status of the grievance procedure.

Dave reported that there could be some TLO’s prior to the shutdown and possibly some TLO’s or VLO’s after the shutdown.

 

Reported that he is finalizing his demands for the National Negotiations.

 

Reported that there was an undercover narcotics sting in the plant and that five employees were discharged.

 

Reported that Jim Clark was awarded Labor Leader of the Year on May 28, 2003 by the AFL-CIO.

REPORT OF THE EXECUTIVE SECRETARY, DAVID HILL:

 

Reported that the benefit representatives and Dave had already formulated benefit demands for the National Negotiations and forwarded them on to the Conference Board.

 

Reported on conference board issues.

 

Reported on the rally at the GE plant in Louisville on May 17th.

 

Reported that health care on a National level will be a high priority and will be a strikeable issue.

REPORT OF THE PRESIDENT, KEITH HAMMOND:

 

Reported on contract demands.

 

Reported on conference board issues,

 

Reported on a trip to Louisville.

 

Reported on AFL-CIO Labor Award dinner on May 28th.

 

Reported on COLA increase.

 

Reported on IUE Golf outing on June 6th.

 

Reported that there will  be an education fair in the plant 14 cafeteria.  It will run from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

 

Reported that Mike Bindas, President of District 7 had a death in his family ,He lost his daughter in law.  Our condolences to Mike.
