Paragraph 99 – 0

Zone 3 -  154

Zone 4  67

Reported on Employment Status level.

Active Employment   1094

Leaves  -   98

Lay offs –   368

Reported on the shake-out of the VR grievance at 3rd step.   Keith reported that he received counsel from the international Union about whether he wanted to take this to the NLRB right now or through the grievance procedure first and that is why he is taking it through the grievance procedure.  A question was asked about new shipments – and Keith said he would ask for an audit of how many shipments they have had in the past.   Since June 9th, there have only been three grievances filed and those had to do with FMLA..

Reported that on the GMY  361/271, there should be a report out Friday, the 29th of October by Dale Shafner and Bill Thomas.  If we could land this job, it would be 1.8 million units per year.

Reported that Honda is in the plant today taking a tour and we will update you as we get more information.  Honda had at least 160 issues with management culture in this country.

Paul Hegwood is 100%  behind GMT 361/271.  It has his full support.

Bulletin Board issues.  People have been complaining about nothing being on the Union benefits bulletin board and some of them are outdated.  It was discussed at 3rd step and from now on, the Union will take care of the Union boards.

Motion made and seconded to approve the chairman’s report subject to question.

Motion carried unanimously.

REPORT OF THE EXECUTIVE SECRETARY, DAVID HILL:

Went over the high cost of name brand drugs, due to the cost of advertising on TV.

Reported that as of last quarter, Anthem had a 23% profit.

Reported on the new insurance for GM retirees who are medicare primary – Active Care.  Seems to be a good program for the ones who are on medicare primary and were not eligible for the HMO.

Reported that October 13, 2004, House Bill 223 went into law.  Went over the details about how management had to train all of the supervisors and how the employees had to have a written notice and it had to be fully explained.   It had to be posted where employees  could see it. It is law, but it does not go into effect until the company implements these things.  The corporation cannot ask an employee to be drug tested but the police can ask for it (because they can call the police) and if they go to ER, the ER doctor can ask for it.  The same penalty will apply – if you do not submit, you are assumed to be guilty.

Motion made and seconded to approve the executive secretary’s report, subject to question.

Motion carried unanimously.
